I decided to give blood last year, I was at Eastbourne Air Show and the stand was empty, so I signed up, I simply thought why not.

They send you plenty of info, although you have to fill in a questionnaire every time, which asks some unusual questions, but I’ll let you enjoy the surprise, a few of them made me chuckle to say the least.

You also find out your Blood Type which I didn’t know, I’m A+ if you wanted to know, which is one of the more common blood types, which means they need plenty of it, if that makes sense.

Anyways, my first donation, I didn’t really think much of it, I certainly didn’t feel any side effects.

But last night, I felt some mild nausea, so I decided to walk to my car which was about 3-400m away, except I did this within about 2 minutes of them removing the needle, I don’t think they noticed me leaving, as you’re supposed to rest, I knew this, but I felt fine, just a little sick.

Anyways, I got about 100m down the road and I started to sweat profusely, then another 50m and my ears started ringing louder and louder. After another 50m my vision was failing, it was gradually getting blacker and blacker, I stopped sat on a wall, and put my head lower (it was instinct) and I felt instantly better, I had about 100m left to get to my car, but even with a brief rest, I just about made it to my car, as I got there I was having problems walking straight.

I was glad to be in my car though, I rolled the seat back and sat there listening to the radio for 5 minutes. At which point I felt back to normal. It was weird, the whole time I was walking to my car, ” I was like shit, I’m not gonna be able to drive home safely like this, but was like, shit I can’t turn back, I’ll feel like more of a dick going back”.

There was no way I’d drive if impaired, I don’t drink, and really think people who do it deserve a prison cell.

As weirdly as it sounds though, I sort of enjoyed it, because I’m the kind of person who learns by reinforcing theory with a practical side. I’m not good at copying someone, I have to learn by myself, and make mistakes on the way. So, not sitting and resting and reaffirmed the information I’ve read in the booklets.

I was fine for the rest of the evening, but had a pretty productive day, I put two massive straining posts in the ground to support a new fence line on top of my normal duties. They do say you shouldn’t do anything physical the next day (the doctor asks before hand), but well, I have to work, but I honestly felt really good today, and no ill effects at all, so don’t be put off, most people will never experience that, I certainly don’t plan on doing it again, I’ll stay for the drink and a biscuit.
dinner..so that could be why I struggled

Still, don’t think you can shake off that shit and get up and leave straight away, looking back, I could of easily fainted if I’d pushed myself harder, and could of hurt myself collapsing.

I did some googling, and the symptoms I experienced are classic low blood pressure problems, I just think I didn’t give my body a chance to recover, you should have no problems if you do that and are of normal proportions and in good health.

Yep!

So I went to work playing 2 characters at the same time, only problem is you have to keep switching between windows, but you can sort of command and play first person with the other character at the same time. With some practice I think I could get good at it.

Here’s some screenshots…and yes I finished the entire lair off with my behemoth.

As you can see, 2 copies of savage running (and no slow down at all), conjurer one screen, hunter the other...

I played Savage, and I play Savage 2 currently, it’s a great game, easy to play, hard to master. Made by an independent games company S2, they made a cracking game but the game suffered from lack of advertising, even though it was in beta 2 years ago, I thought I’d promote it a little myself.

It’s FREE now, the full game is available as a free download, and it’s well worth trying out, give it 10 games before you decide. I would advise playing the tutorial through a couple of times, and do some practice before venturing into real games.

Theres a Ladder and Clan Matches, and the community is friendly, all the game needs is more followers!

The thing is, the game has a nice variety, 2 completely unique races, melee orientated battle with ranged weapons for softening the enemy up. There are also Hellbourne units, once you’ve collected souls (4+) you can trade them in at a HellShrine for Hellbourne units which are special, and do higher damage and have new spells.

If you’re into RTS, how does it sound being able to have units which are human controlled, you can issue them orders, build buildings, buff and debuff them, the commanders chair awaits you!

The developers website (they are making a new game currently, which is in beta): http://www.s2games.com/

Savage 2 website:
http://savage2.com/en/

You can download it here:
http://savage2.com/en/download.php

It works on Windows, Linux and Macs, not bad for a small company!

Beast (the player) about to get owned by the human team

Commander View Savage 2

If you want to see where it all started, head over to the Savage 1 website, I’m sure it still has followers:

If you have a similiar problem to the one listed in this forum:
http://community.mcafee.com/showthread.php?t=215815

It says “File Not Found 404″ or something similiar, if you’re running wordpress, drupal or some content management system which has “pretty urls”, it means every request is being rewritten using htaccess rules, that’s where the problem comes in, without going into gory details, just exclude it.

Open your HTACCESS file (if you have one), and look for something like this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !=/favicon.ico
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/devfiles
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

This is what’s causing you the headache.

Now Copy the URL in the Mcafee e-mail, it will look something like this:

http://mywebsite.com/mywebsite.comc34928713ceba2140cdc0a08214dbe9a4ff91a24.html

The filename you’re supposed to create is like this, just with your own DOMAIN NAME and CODE:

mywebsite.comc34928713ceba2140cdc0a08214dbe9a4ff91a24.html

To make the site verify you need to add an exclusion rule to your htaccess, so it ignores the request, rather than piping it through to an index file (which is usually in public_html or www or the root of your ftp folder):

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !=/favicon.ico
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/devfiles
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^/mywebsite\.com06dc46cb35f29b6e40fd949e6693df525d9ee34c\.html$ - [L]

What I’ve done is put the bits you need to make match with your own website in bold.

This sounds strange doesn’t it, there one minute, gone the next.Initially I thought the server was at fault, perhaps a misguided spambox script was deleting the wrong directory or something like that.

Turns out it was much simpler than that, after looking at the maillog (which displays POP3 and IMAP Connections), it turns out the user was accessing the same account with 2 different protocols. As you’re probably aware, POP3 downloads messages from the Inbox, and IMAP work’s by downloading headers, and the body in a seperate action.

So, every time the user connected with pop3, the emails would be downloaded to the local machine. Then they would go back to their IMAP program and the emails had vanished.

I’m disappointed it took me so long to work out what was happening, but once again, the logfiles come to the rescue, hope this is insightful.

tail -60000 /var/log/maillog | grep "account@domain.com"

If you’re getting errors whenever someone sends an email using Roundcube Webmail try the following:

/scripts/makecpphp

This will rebuild Cpanel/WHM php setup. This seems to work for some people so it’s worth a shot.

A user of NeostormInternet.com had lost their address book with many important email addresses, I was able to recover many of them from various logfiles on the server, whilst the messages no longer existed, whenever a mail arrives or is sent a record is saved to various text files on the server.

So I had to work out a way of extracting these for the user amongst all the spam as well.I’ve recently fallen in love with grep, which is tool for searching through files, so this was my weapon of choice.

So first job was to locate the logfiles that might have the info I needed, because of log rotation, there were no logs older than a week for SMTP records, however, the anti spam system keeps track of received messages to help with it’s anti spam efforts. These are located here on my Centos/WHM/ASSP protected box.

/usr/local/assp

So I ran the following command:

grep -h ‘emailaddress@domain.com’ /usr/local/assp/* > ~/results_stage01.txt

Okay, so we got all lines from all in files that were in the /usr/local/assp/ folder in a file called results_stage01.txt

Next I need to seperate filtering rubbish from spam, as they are in the same file. Real Messages that are delivered through the system get a flag called “MESSAGE OK”, so I wanted to extract that line to another file, so I ran this.

grep -h ‘MESSAGE OK’ ~/results_stage01.txt > results_stage02.txt

Easy eh, the this has also removed the duplicates, as each email will create several lines as it passes through various filters. The final step is to extract the email address which is between two anchor tags ‘EMAILADDRESSHERE’. So I used the following command:

grep -E -h -o ‘<.*?>’ results_stage02.txt > results_stage03.txt

If you view that file, you should see a list of email addresses, those addresses correspond to people who have contacted you, which should help you reconstruct your address book.

If you want to be flash you can combine all of them into a single command!

grep -h ‘email@domain.com’ /usr/local/assp/* | grep -h ‘MESSAGE OK’ | grep -h -o -E ‘<.*?> ‘ > collected_addresses.txt

(I would of combined the final mail command command as wel, but it seems mail only accepts input from a file rather than stdout).

mail -s "Your Requested Addresses" email@example.com < collected_addresses.txt

Have fun, hope it helps some of your clients.
